The PRAXIS Institute of Psychotherapy was a small, private institution offering a rigorous 1.5-year Master's program in Psychotherapy specifically designed for mental health professionals, including practising psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, and social workers who wished to undertake graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. In addition, we offered a 1-year articulated Master's of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MACP) to students who had recently graduated from a Master's in Counselling from an approved University, and who desired to undertake an additional one-year extension training in Psychotherapy for MCAP conferal.
Rooted in the traditions of psychodynamic psychotherapy, the programs introduced students to various psychodynamic principles, theories, frameworks, and interventions. Each program adopted a tripartite model, integrating:
Academic Coursework (live online lectures, assignments, research projects and group work- 12 subjects )
Personal Psychotherapy (students were required to complete 100 hours of personal psychodynamic psychotherapy)
Clinical Supervision (students were required to complete 100 hours of psychotherapy supervision for multiple supervised patient cases)
PRAXIS maintained a high academic standard, and was committed to developing depth-oriented clinicians through a practice-based, experiential learning model. While the Institute was based in Spain, its online program was offered internationally, with students graduating from the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and France in 2020, 2022 and 2024. We are proud of the calibre of clinicians who completed our training and the impact they continue to have in psychotherapy today.
As of December 2024, the PRAXIS Institute of Psychotherapy is no longer operational, and the master’s program is no longer being offered.
Thank you to all who were part of the PRAXIS community.
